Stockport now contains a wealth
of available and quality river
fishing. It is now possible to
catch fish throughout the Rivers
Tame, Goyt and Mersey. Species
that have been caught on these
rivers include trout, grayling,
barbel, chub, dace, roach,
perch, bream, tench, gudgeon and
minnow.
The majority of fishable
stretches of the River Goyt are
controlled by Stockport &
District Anglers’ Federation
whilst
many other stretches of the
River Tame and River Mersey are
managed by other local angling
clubs. The Federation also
controls many lakes and ponds
throughout Stockport.
